These are some of my favorite posts to read and write. I am not so much for resolutions and goals, but more for losely written things I’d like to work towards in the upcoming year. When I stopped setting hard numerical goals and started to focus more on loose goals, I found I was more pleased with myself at the end each year when it came down to accomplishing things. This is also my first year creating a vision board for my goals and aspirations. I believe that when we put your goals on paper and have them visible at all times it will make you more motivated, I believe this but never commit to doing it, so this year were doing it. I can’t wait to reflect on this post at the end of the year.
Creative
This year I am fully committing to the creative avenues of my life. I have big creative goals for this year and one included writing a book. Wow, crazy to put that out there. But, this is something I have thought about for the past 10 years of my life. Im not joking, I’ve had this story in my head for that long. Late at night I plot the story line, think of characters, and try to map out what it would look like. What has stopped me? I don’t know how to write a book. I took one creative writing class in college and that is it. This is the year I put pen to paper, map it out, outside of my head and see what happens.
Building my bookstagram account. I went from reading zero books in 2020 to reading 10 in 2021. This type of cycle is not unusual for me. I have droughts of reading, but would like to keep the momentum and read more consistently.
Commit to blogging more. I have a running list of blog ideas that I keep and would like to start tackling that. Also the more practice I get writing the better, especially when working the muscle for writing a book.
Financial
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. I’m not great with managing my finance, I like budgets, but sticking to them… not so great. I have a few private financial goals for this upcoming year… but it broad terms I’d like to put X amount in my savings, stick to a monthly budget (I’m going to use the Mint app, I’ll keep you posted on that).
Fitness
Simple: walk daily. We have a very under-loved treadmill in our basement… and this desk attachment. There are 0 excuses as to why I can’t commit to walking for 30 minutes a day. So thats the goal. Walk 30 minutes daily.
Professional
I am working towards a big professional goal, and it has been something that I have been working towards for YEARS. It is the thorn in my side and I’d really like to accomplish that this year.
Personal
I started this goal in December, and so far am happy with the results, but I’d like to be on my phone less. If you have an apple phone, you know you get a weekly “screen time” report. The second week of December I was down 17% and the third week I was down 24%. I’ve started to switch each time I pick up my phone to picking up a book. It seems to be working so far, and I’d like to set a better example for Eloise.
Prioritize my mental health. I haven’t shared much on this yet, but I was hit pretty hard with the Postpartum Anxiety and Depression. I had to really work on myself after having Elle and its not easy. If you are struggling with this too you’re not alone. I have a wonderful support system and its been a lot better. My life has been feeling less cloudy the past couple months and I will continue to work on that.
There it is! My goals and vision. Please tell me in the comments are you a goal setter? How do you tackle the new year?
